Show control for the future designed by Mark Coniglio.. Community.. Non-Profit Arts surpasses cultural tourism and rivals the TV and Film industry in combined economic impact.. Lower Manhattan’s shift from financial center to a residential neighborhood requires grassroots community cultural development.. The arts and culture generated by non-profits are the international face of New York City.. Media and technology development are our future.. Recent studies also show that an artistic ecosystem has a much broader and more rapidly accelerating effect on community than one central large-scale arts facility.. 3LD has already begun turning Lower Manhattan into a 24/7 neighborhood.. We bring major institutions like Columbia University, NYU, The New Yorker Festival, Under the Radar and The Public Theater as well as 300,000 audience members and 700 artists year from 23 countries to a formerly blighted neighborhood.. Residents.. The artists who run 3LD have created a new kind of facility focused on a cooperative international community of artists; on rethinking how resources are gathered, distributed and used; on new technologies and methods that help artists to do.. MORE with LESS.. We have virtually eliminated the cost of equipment by working cooperatively with our residents on everything from production planning to fundraising.. We do this in order to mitigate the cost of space so that more money goes to making art and to paying artists.. We have seen productions double their scale, artist pay, and audience share while decreasing costs 30- 60%.. 2014 3LD Art & Technology Center..

Let's clear this up: the production company,.. 3-Legged Dog Media Theater Group.. , owns and operates.. , the 1000 person capacity Art Space, Performance Venue and Integrative Technology Lab.. Here's our Mission:.. 3-Legged Dog exists to produce new, original works in theater, performance, media and hybrid forms.. Working out of a strong literary tradition, our mission is to explore the new narrative possibilities created by digital technology, and to provide an environment for our artists to create new tools and modes of expression so that they can excel across a range of disciplines.. Fostering Cutting Edge Artwork since 2006:.. 3LD Art Technology Center is a community-oriented and artist-run production development studio for emerging and established artists and organizations that create large-scale experimental artworks of all kinds.. Since opening in 2006, we have hosted more than 700 artists a year through our.. 3LD Residency Program.. , offering artists a unique experience with 24/7 access to specialized equipment, flexible space and expert knowledge, as well as the desperately needed time to fully realize their visions (6 to 16 week residencies).. If New York City is to remain at the forefront of artistic innovation and experimentation, then its artists must have the means to create cutting-edge work.. curates the.. as part of our Cooperative Professional Resources (CPR) Program for resident artists who carry on the traditions of risk-taking and boundary-pushing aesthetics, a tradition that reaches back in New York City’s history to the late 1800s.. Artists  ...   producing arts group to sign a lease in the Liberty Zone and the first to rebuild downtown.. A cultural anchor for the Greenwich Street Corridor, 3LD Art & Technology Center has been called a “quintessentially ‘hip location,’ a magnet in a still rough-around-the-edges neighborhood,” by Newsday and The New York Times said after 3LD opened, “A theater group offers hope at Ground Zero.. ”.. Who Runs this Place?.. Media Theater Group operates 3LD Art Technology Center and with the help of a distinguished international network of artists and curators we curate the.. 3LD Cooperative Professional Resources Program.. , which includes long term production residencies.. Since 2006, 3-Legged Dog has provided subsidies to 3LD’s residents through traditional fundraising and through a progressive license fee structure in which more established better funded companies pay more to help support newer less well funded companies and independent artists.. We create and support challenging large- scale, well-produced art within a financially sustainable environment focusing on artists and companies on the verge of artistic or organizational breakthrough.. In our own work, we push scale, cooperation and community building with other artists as the most viable course to survival and growth.. Our work has been seen in such venues as the Kitchen, La Mama, The Ontological-Hysteric Theater, PS 122, The Venice Biennale, The Signature Theatre Co.. and at our new home, 3LD Art & Technology Center.. Since 1994, we have become a mainstay in the experimental arts community and have been performing downtown ever since..
