  • Title: AEM | AEM’s New AG & CE Sector Teams Key to Delivering Better Value to Members, Long-term Success & Relevance
Descriptive info: 1/6/2014.. AEM s New AG CE Sector Teams Key to Delivering Better Value to Members, Long-term Success Relevance.. Happy New Year everyone! It s hard to believe that 2013 is behind us and we are already implementing our plans to achieve the 2014 Association goals approved by the AEM Board of Directors and announced to the membership in November.. These.. six new goals.. are based on the objectives of the AEM Strategic Plan in the six Key Result Areas (KRAs) of:.. Financial Model.. Advocacy.. Products.. Partnerships Collaboration.. People.. six KRAs.. have been well-publicized and serve as the cornerstone of our strategic initiatives to provide quality services that are valued and needed by the member companies.. If you aren t familiar with the 2014 AEM goals, please take a moment to.. click through and review each of them.. For today, I want to use this column to call your attention to a key initiative underway as part of the 2014 goal for the People Key Result Area.. Last year, the Association implemented a new governance structure that established AG and CE Sector Boards that has resulted in more empowered leadership at the Sector level to address issues and problems specific to their sectors to better serve the membership.. With the Sector Boards successfully established, we are now taking the bold step to completely reorganize the AEM staff to establish internal AG and CE Sector Teams to more effectively deliver services and information content to the members in these industry sectors.. These cross-functional staff teams will bring together the many departments and employees that until now independently provided services to the members.. We have delivered beneficial, bottom-line programs to our members in the core service areas of advocacy, exhibitions, market information and technical/safety services, but until now, we haven t brought these parts together to provide greater efficiency, collective industry knowledge and the synergy of all the services working together as one team to improve our services  ...   Teams each consist of employee representatives from the following departments and activities:.. Public relations.. Marketing.. Market intelligence.. Public policy.. Exhibitions.. Global business development.. Technical/Safety.. Each team will also include a new AEM position of Product Manager tasked with understanding market issues and trends for specific products in their designated Sector and with determining how to drive value to members.. Sector Team members will:.. Represent their department or service and provide departmental expertise.. Be accountable to both their department head or vice president and the Sector Team leader.. Achieve specific Sector Team objectives.. Another essential component of the staff reorganization has been to reassign departments and activities currently under Al Cervero and Charlie O Brien to other AEM Vice Presidents to free up and redirect their time to focus on development of the CE and AG Sector Teams.. This realignment includes:.. Bringing the Technical/Safety Services under the direction of VP Government Industry Relations Nick Yaksich.. Adding the Marketing department under the leadership of VP Political Public Affairs Anne Forristall Luke.. Establishing a new Strategic Content department to bring our primary market information, information systems and data-content activities together.. A new Vice President of Strategic Content will be named to direct the activities of the Market Intelligence, IT and Statistics areas.. Serving our Members.. While this reorganization may on the surface appear to be disruptive after all, we do a pretty good job of providing services today this change is essential for AEM to remain competitive and relevant as THE Association serving our members in the future.. We don t just want to offer good services.. We want to deliver the gold standard in services and forward-thinking ideas to support our members.. These are exciting times for AEM that will bring us some challenges in the short term but far more new opportunities in the future.. As always, we appreciate your support and look forward to serving you in the months ahead.. Sincerely,.. Dennis Slater.. AEM President..
