  • Title: About Us | Anglican Association of Biblical Scholars
Descriptive info: The Anglican Association of Biblical Scholars is an international association of biblical scholars who are affiliated with the churches of the Anglican Communion.. Our purpose is to support biblical scholarship at all levels in the Anglican Communion.. The AABS was founded following the meeting of the American Academy of Religion and Society of Biblical Literature in Kansas City in 1991, in response to an informal call from Michael Floyd, Professor of Old Testament at the Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas, to all  ...   in Episcopal seminaries, colleges, churches, and other institutions.. After our Canadian colleagues reminded those gathered that AAR/SBL was an international group, the Anglican Association of Biblical Scholars was born.. The group, meeting at first on a trial basis, was officially constituted two years later, and Floyd was elected its first president.. Since that time, the AABS has blossomed into a thriving organization of biblical scholars, with members around the world.. We continue to seek ways in which we can serve the Church through our scholarly vocation..
