The Barcelona Graduate School of Economics ranks between 2nd and 3rd in economics research output in Europe when the research of its founding universities, the UPF and UAB, is combined.. This finding was published in the.. Journal of the European Economic Association.. in an article titled.. Research and Higher Education in Economics: Can We Deliver The Lisbon Objectives?.. (May 2007) by Jacques H.. Drèze and Fernanda Estevan of CORE and Université Catholique de Louvain.. The ranking was based on the number of pages (co)authored and published in a selection of 30 top economics journals by researchers from various economics departments over the course of a decade.. According to the analysis, the Barcelona GSE has an average of 578 pages published in these journals, placing it above comparable European universities such as LSE, Cambridge, Oxford, and Toulouse (549, 372, 370, and 322 pages, respectively).. Banking Summer School.. were held from June 25 - July 6, marking the school s first official academic activity.. The acclaim received from both participants and professors foreshadows the success of the four masters programs that will begin in September.. The intensive 2-week schools are designed for practitioners, researchers and postgraduate students, and are taught by a faculty composed of leading academics and practitioners.. The inaugural class was composed of 102 participants of 38 different nationalities who traveled to Barcelona to become versed in the latest theory as well as learn about cutting-edge practices in the banking or cluster industry.. To welcome students, the summer school held an official reception in Barcelona s historic city hall, where attendees were able to socialize with Barcelona GSE summer school professors and other students while enjoying a cocktail reception.. Professor Hogarth is one of the researchers at the forefront of the relatively new discipline of behavioral economics..
