Elaine Kennedy was our first guest speaker in March, 2009.. Her topic was "Alternatives to Pesticides and Environmentally Friendly Gardens".. Diane Lunan from Marlin Orchards, Cornwall, spoke on "New Varieties and Trends in Roses" at our April 2009 meeting.. Scotiabank, Maxville Branch, matched the profits made at our annual May Plant Auction.. An early Spring 2009 shot  ...   at the Maxville Post Office and the Sportscomplex as well as the six planters at the four entrances to the village.. Our bus trip on May 27th took us to Rideau Woodland Ramble, Lunch in Merrickville and a stop at Make it Green Garden Centre.. Residents from the Maxville Manor enjoy visiting our Flower and Vegetable Show each year.. An example of the beautiful exhibits at our Flower and Vegetable Show in August 2009.. Special thanks to.. longtime member Dorothy Reid who researched the Mount Forest Archives to uncover our history where a year book is placed to preserve our local society history yearly.. Welcome to another Mt.. Forest Horticulture Society season.. On behalf of the Mt Forest Horticultural Society a special welcome to all those who visit us however often via the web or em or attending meetings.. Our next meeting is on June5th at the Mt.. Forest United Church.. Doors open at 10 am for any wishing to enter the 2nd flower show of this year, and 7 pm at night to view the results.. The meeting itself will start at 7.. 30 with the speakers beginning at 8 pm.. Bryce and Misty will do a presentation and speak on "From the garden to the table through the wine cellar.. ".. If you wish to visit or join our society just come to the meeting everyone is welcome at all ages.. Mount Forest members believe the future of our society belongs to the junior gardeners.. It takes three levels of involvement,enthusiastic youth, involved parents and dedicated teachers, plus  ...   amazing! Meeting and greeting new people at meetings.. Whatever we can do we do it with all our hearts and the society is better for it.. A great big Thank you one and all!.. We meet at the Mt Forest United Church.. 175 Queen St.. (near Tim Hortons.. ) we are wheel chair accessable.. Monthly meetings start from April to Oct monthly.. No July meeting.. Each spring members and friends of the society donate all manner of plants for a large and very successful plant sale where members are available to answer questions and help the buyers.. It is not necessary to be a member to attend meetings or to purchase or donate plants to this plant show.. Mount Forest Horticultural Society volunteers plant and care for flower beds at the North Wellington Sports Center, Cork Street Park.. , Mount Forest cemetary entrance, Murphy Park, Roy Grant Park, and Ruth Barker Memorial Garden, as well as each of the 4 entrance gardens to our town.. These include all age groups including both teen and elderly volunteers.. We all do what we can..
