In the year that I have been with the Historical Research Center, we have received queries regarding funerals that were held here locally.. Often times, the family researcher has little knowledge other than a name and vague sense that the relative may be interred in an area cemetery.. In 2011, I decided to record all of the funeral data and available information from our Independence funeral homes.. Since I work  ...   the deceased person s name, date of birth, place of birth, father s name, mother s maiden name, date and place of death, and place of burial when the information was available on file.. From these three funeral homes, I recorded over 10,000 funerals.. This information from the local funeral homes can now be used in conjunction with the Montgomery County cemetery records compiled by James Moon and Mount Hope cemetery records compiled by Judy Hall.. The records currently on file at the Research Center are:.. Jackson Funeral Home.. 1927-1929.. 1939-1941.. Denbo Funeral Home.. 1928-1957.. Webb Rodrick Funeral Home.. 1935-2011.. Today I am working to record all of the files of Potts Funeral Home and hope to complete the listing by 2015.. Please feel free to come to the Research Center and either begin or continue your personal research.. Allan Johnson.. The Historical Research Center has a new phone.. The number is 620-779-0496..
