Funding and support of its operation has come from all areas of the Community as well as from the Emergency Food And Shelter Program.. Because of great community involvement and efficient staff, the Food Bank supplies the emergency food network in Racine  ...   with several cases of donated food and a part-time coordinator, the agency has since grown to face the challenges of recessions and Racine plant/company closings.. Currently, RCFB's four staff members, along with hundreds of volunteers, food collection, warehousing and distribution of over 1,000,000 pounds of food each year! The Food Bank serves as Racine County's United Way of Food and distributes food, free of charge to food pantries, emergency shelters, community meal sites and social service agencies throughout Racine County.. Emergency food assistance can be accessed once each month.. People who live outside of the City of Racine may go directly to a food pantry in their area and provide the same proof of need and eligibility to then obtain food.. People who want to take part in a community meal can just go to one of the volunteer-run meal sites and be fed.. There is no charge and no need to register.. People at emergency shelters enjoy meals provided in part by food from the Food Bank while they are residents of the shelter..

The Racine County Food Bank currently provides assistance to 14 pantries located throughout Racine County, 11 of them within the city limits.. There are also other pantries located in Racine County, typically run by faith-based groups for their parishioners and their families.. How do I know if I qualify for assistance?.. Your gross income for the entire household must be at or below 185% of the poverty level established by the Federal Government..
