    Descriptive info: Union of the Baltic Cities (UBC) is a constantly growing organisation with over 100 member cities in ten countries around the Baltic Sea.. UBC consists of eleven commissions where most of the work takes place.. In 2003, a Network on Youth Issues was established during the VII General Conference in Klaipėda.. In 2005, at the General Conference in Turku, the Network was upgraded to a Commission on Youth Issues.. Why youth issues?.. Youth is a very important resource to develop both the cities and the region.. The participation of youth brings in new dimensions, perspectives and expertise in the municipal work.. This is the core of the commission work.. The Commission on Youth Issues works actively to promote youth  ...   work towards youth involvement, youth exchange and youth participation in the UBC member cities.. The Commission should serve as a basis for UBC contact persons on youth issues.. The Commission is also monitoring the agenda of UBC from a youth perspective.. Organisation.. The Commission is represented by one civil servant/ politician and one youth representative from each participating city for the period of 2 years.. Each representative should also have a deputy representative appointed.. The work of the Commission is led by one coordinating city and one deputy coordinating city.. The City of Turku in Finland is coordinator and the City of Gävle in Sweden is co-coordinator for the period 2013-2015.. The Commission meets approximately 2 times per year..

    Descriptive info: Agreement of participation within.. Union of Baltic Cities, Commission on Youth Issues.. According to the Union of Baltic Cities (UBC) Strategy, „.. An EU Strategy for Youth – Investing and Empowering.. A renewed open method of coordination to address youth challenges and opportunities“.. , Agenda 21, chapter 25 and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child it is of great importance to establish and develop new ways and new methods to implement a new youth policy in dialogue with young people.. The UBC Commission on Youth Issues.. was established at the General Assembly of the Union of the Baltic Cities in Turku, Finland in October 2005, following up the Network on Youth Issues, that has been a body within UBC since 2003.. In the work of the Network on Youth issues there have been 2 youth conferences, in Kalmar 2003 and in Vilnius 2005 and 3 within the Commission in Pärnu 2007, Kristiansand 2009, Liepaja 2011, focusing on important issues for youth in the Baltic Sea Region.. We would like to express our appreciation to the active cities in the previous Network on Youth Issues and we will be pleased if you choose to be an active member in  ...   Youth issues.. It provides the member cities with new ideas, a platform to discuss youth policy and to meet youth and youth workers in the Baltic Sea Region.. At least twice a year Commission holds opened meetings.. At the same time new joint projects are good way for cities to reach different goals and Commission works through projects as well.. The next milestone for the Commission on Youth Issues is the Youth Conference in Mariehamn, Sweden in 2013.. The Commission of Youth Issues hopes that your city will contribute to the work of Commission bright examples from your municipal work within the frame of youth policy and youth work and will be an active member of Commission on Youth Issues.. Financial Statement.. The Commission on Youth Issues can receive up to 10 000 EUR from the UBC.. The Secretariat of the Commission will require 3 500 EUR.. The final 6 500 EUR will be used to organise workshops and meetings within the Commission.. Project-based activities are welcome.. All participating cities have to cover their own travel costs and lodging except if involved in projects.. * If you wish us to send you a Letter of Intent officially, please contact the Secretariat..
